    Welcome To Our Travel Blog

How our travel blog started – pre knowledge of travel blogs

The actual moment we started our travel blog, was when we travelled to Mauritius when we were 15 years old.  Lauren wrote down every single thing that we did in a small hotel notepad.  Like every single thing.  The notepads that hotels leave next to the bed… those always end up leaving with us, with plenty notes in them.

This trip was before we had social media, so I guess it was a way to never forget those exact moments that we had – even though we can remember clearly having 5 bowls of coco pops for breakfast every morning, that we couldn’t even make space for the buffet breakfast the wonderful chefs had cooked us at La Victoria.

How our travel blog started – post realizing that travel blogs are a thing

After a hectic year of work, we both craved a soul refreshing holiday and Bali was just that.  Only if you have travelled to Bali, will you understand that feeling!

Our travel blog idea came to life while sitting on our villa porch, on a small island in Bali.  We had a travel diary that we received for our 21st birthday, and Bali was the perfect opportunity to make use of it.

This magnificent small island that we always dreamt of Bali being like, was Nusa Lembongon.

    Who are off two wander?

We are identical twin sisters born and living in Cape Town, South Africa.  Lauren being in the travel industry for over 6 years, designed our Bali itinerary and booked the accommodation, flights and transfers.  And packed the bags too… ALL the bags.  Julia being a teacher, we left the same day school broke up – because peak season flights are a real thing…. anything to save on a flight price!

Before we knew it, we had blogged so much about our adventure and we were day 3 into our trip!

Travel has always been a part of us from a young age, not always international travel, but domestic travel throughout South Africa.  Mauritius was our first ever international trip, and that is why we made notes of every single move. Majority of our family travels were along the Garden Route in the Western Cape, which is a short 4.5 hour drive from Cape Town.

    Big travel plans for 2021

From the moment we started our blog, whether it was in Mauritius in 2007, or if it was our time in Bali in 2016, we have made it our mission to travel more and write about our travels.

Yes, you might be thinking that a travel blog during a world pandemic…why?

We all have our own reasoning for why we travel, and of course each person is different.  For us, travel is the perfect way to refresh your soul after a hard year/ phase in your life and just for that adrenaline rush and thrill you get from going on an adventure. And most importantly, to experience the beauty the world has to offer.

There is nothing better than returning home from a trip, and retelling your travel adventure to as many people as possible!  Here I am smiling about all those who we met along the way and excited about those whose paths we are yet to cross during our future travels.

Yes, you might be thinking that a travel blog during a world pandemic… why?  This travel blog has been a long time in the making and we contemplated whether to pursue it for some time.

But why not?? Let’s do this and having a live website will hold us accountable to make travel and travel blogging more of a priority in our lives.  Head over to our blog Wildlife, nature and travel to get more in depth knowledge on the pillars that we will focus our travel blog on.

This is our space where we will
